About
me and Professional
Secretarial Service…
After
completing my Bachelor of Science degree in Business Education
(Major in Secretarial Science, Minor in English) from the
University of Idaho, I ventured from my native state of Idaho
to work and enjoy
the fun and excitement of the big city of San Francisco, CA
as a young adult. My first full-time employment was
in the Sales Office of the San Francisco Hilton Hotel making
room, dining, and sightseeing accommodations for national
and international tour and convention groups.
I
returned to Idaho to a secondary teaching position for the
Boise Independent School District assigned to Booth Memorial
Home, a Salvation Army sponsored enterprise for unwed mothers
from throughout the northwest. I created the first business
and social studies program and taught grade levels 7-12 accommodating
students from different school districts with varied class
requirements. It was my responsibility to provide an
educational opportunity for at-risk teenagers by inspiring
confidence, self esteem and self worth; encouraging goal setting;
emphasizing individual capabilities; and stimulating their
desire to better their lives.
The
next 10 years were involved in being a mother so I took a
hiatus from the work force. While enjoying my motherhood
years, I completed various art classes with emphasis on composition
and design. My works have been displayed at Art in the
Park, Boise, ID, Beaux Arts Society Christmas Sale, Boise,
ID, Mountain Mamas Art Show, Stanley, ID, Arts and Crafts
Fair, Salmon, ID, St. Luke's Regional Medical Center,
Idaho Watercolor Society, and an art gallery in Lincoln City,
OR.
In
1986, I re-entered the work environment as an Administrative
Secretary for Dunhill Temporary Services handling diverse
secretarial duties on a last minute basis. While gaining
knowledge of the changes in the current workforce, I provided
effective secretarial support for large and small industries
such as West One Bank, Morrison Knudsen, Boise Cascade, Xerox,
U.S. West, Boise State University and Wang Laboratories.
I
then obtained a position as Office Manager for a counseling
office. I managed all office procedures for the Institute
for Clinical Hypnotherapy scheduling appointments and interviewing
prospective clients. My responsibilities included marketing,
locally and nationally, the health care programs/workshops/seminars
offered by the Institute as well as coordinating the distribution
of video/audio cassettes/handouts/manual sales. I established
client files, disseminated workshop data and handouts, and
handled accounts payable/receivables. As the counselors
opened their own private offices and/or took other positions,
the office closed.
As
Assistant to the Boise Area Economic Development Council (BAEDC),
an arm of the Boise Area Chamber of Commerce, Boise, Idaho,
I handled economic development inquiries from local, national
and international businesses interested in expanding or locating
their facilities in the Boise area. I researched and
formatted statistical data for the "Decision Resources,"
a 140-page publication of information on the Treasure Valley
that provided critical, detailed data for prospective businesses.
I also was responsible for scheduling meetings for the BAEDC
committees, providing economic information for area business
leaders and government officials, and coordinating international
business seminars/presentations for visiting international
dignitaries.
With
my ability and experience to provide personalized service,
I became interested in starting my own business offering secretarial
services to individuals and small businesses. Professional
Secretarial Service was established in March of 1997.
It is a home-based enterprise solely owned and operated by
myself, Judy L. Love. I have provided secretarial service
to associations, businesses, and individuals by offering accurate,
skilled and prompt assistance for their computer-related needs,
such as designing newsletters, brochures, flyers; composing
resumes, cover letters and reference lists; formatting letters,
reports and tabulated data; scanning photos, text and graphics
into documents; and providing secretarial assistance and guidance
to start-up businesses.
I
have a variety of office experiences in different environments
with special requirements. I have learned to provide
quality work, paying attention to detail and presentation.
I bring to any project the strong attributes of professionalism,
honesty, confidentiality, and reliability.
